Strategy: Learning Multiplication Facts

Look at this video to help your student learn math facts easily and quickly. Students learn math facts by learning to “count by.” “Count by” using one’s fingers to skip count math facts. This video is an example of how to use “count by” to learn the math facts 9s. This strategy uses a familiar tune in the learning of 9s times tables. The familiar song used is Jingle Bells. To help with other multiplication facts, use other songs such as Old MacDonalds, Happy Birthday, and other familiar songs. Strategy: Learning Sight Words

Click on the link below to learn a strategy to help your student(s) learn sight words quickly. Students can learn sight words by drawing a picture to accompany the word to be learned. Having the student draw pictures helps create context and meaning for the word. The video on our Facebook page is an example of how you, as a caregiver, can help your student draw a picture to learn their sight words. Many students in the early elementary grades enjoy drawing, so let’s use their strengths to aid learning. I have used this strategy with many students, and it is a winning strategy for learning sight words. It is fun too!
